i have said 'let's hang out soon' to approximately forty people and made actual plans with maybe six of them and we both know that 'let's hang out soon' is a social ritual and not a scheduling request. it means 'i like you and i'm acknowledging that.' it doesn't mean 'i have a date in mind.' we're all participants in this system
