the algorithm recommended something to me yesterday that i had been talking about out loud with a friend the day before. not searched. not texted. said out loud in my apartment. i know about microphone access and i know about coincidence and i know about behavioral pattern prediction. i genuinely can't tell you which one this was. my phone was in my pocket during the conversation. i'm going to leave it there
the chronological feed existed and we weren't grateful enough. we complained about it. we wanted recommendations. we wanted to see what was popular. we got it. now everything is optimized and weighted and curated and we see what the algorithm has decided we should see and we have been complaining about that since. the grass was greener. we watered it ourselves

idk why but posted something real about a hard thing i was going through and the response surprised me. not with numbers — the numbers are whatever. but specific people reached out saying it resonated with something they were also going through and didn't have words for. that's the version of this that means something. the algorithm can have the rest
